Lindström acquires Alsco´s Chinese operations to further strengthen its position as Asia´s leading textile service operator

Finnish multinational textile services group Lindström has acquired the entire Alsco operations and personnel in China to support the realization of its vision 2025 in Asia. With this acquisition, Lindström becomes the only international textile service operator in the fast-growing Chinese market.

“This acquisition brings us much-needed additional capacity and volume and increases our capabilities, especially in workwear services. Furthermore, it will deepen our expertise in some of our focus segments, the food and pharma industries, as well as in electronics and chemical industries”, says Juha Laurio, CEO of Lindström Group, and continues:

“The Asian market has huge potential. Lindström’s circular economy-based service models promote sustainable development and take our planet and society in the right direction wherever we operate. In accordance with our strategy, we want to be located close to our customers and serve them in the markets where they operate. There are many international companies and production facilities in China that have planned their operations in such a way that, for example, work wear is purchased as a service that meets international hygiene and safety standards. About 50% of our customers in China are international companies. With this acquisition, we can serve them in an even wider geographical area and in more industries.”

Lindström has been operating in the China market since 2006. After the acquisition, Lindström employs around 650 people in altogether 6 locations (Shanghai, Suzhou, Beijing, Tianjin, Chengdu, and Guangzhou) in China and serves more than 1300 customers in workwear, mats, and cleanroom services.

Anupam Chakrabarty, Senior Vice President responsible for Region Asia and Marketing, Sales, and Customer Experience in Lindström, emphasizes the strategic fit these two companies have.

“Our combined understanding and experience from the local Chinese market together with the great synergy potential play a significant role in our profitable growth and in developing our capabilities to serve our Asian and international customers with even more innovative and sustainable solutions in rental textiles to ease their everyday business operations”, Chakrabarty concludes.
